"HFV has no HFV. But somehow has 2 motorcycles" (hondasfordsvolvo)

So my wife just sent me info about this house. It’s a 1800sq/ft, 3 bed, 2 bath, with a 2 car garage, and 15 acres, and its almost in “ budget”. As a bonus the house if only about 3 years old. So basically its everythign we both want/need. I edited the image just to make it a bit less likely for be reverse goolge- able.
Now it shouldn’t surprise you that my #1 reason for wanting a plot of land is to have my own little rallyX track, and a few beaters to well, beat on it. With the possibility of even hosting events.
So I ask you fellow oppos, assuming that all of the field is within the property line, how would you layout the track. For reference the field at it widest from east to west is about 1/4 mile , and the two buildings with black lines over them have been torn down, the grey roof is the house, and the red roof this the garage, why one earth they don’ t have matching roofs is beyond me.

Hmm, I know nothing about course design, so I don’t have many good ideas. Is there any significant topography?
Is your wife okay with your property looking like David Tracy’s?
(though it does actually look like half of that was repairable):
Better than I expected without digging up and leveling the whole lawn.

you know you’re probably right. altho it might have been the grey ones that were one also I think the garage is older than the house.
I like that layout, the eastern part of the track reminds me of something but I can’t think of the name of the track.

she’d going to hav e to be.
from the photo’s it seems pretty flat which is good and bad.
this is the best aerial they have, not much going on elevation wise. (surprisingly reserve goolge for this photo doesn’t bring you to the listing .)

I think it’s Motegi Twin Loop that I was thinking of just rotated a bit. it’s really not even close lol.

I too hope to someday have enough property to make my own rallyx course. I’d love to own 50+ acres either in the driftless region or in the UP to have a cabin on and be able to hunt and do other shenanigans like this lol.

Ok, well this is my amateur take on the thing. I’d mostly keep it around the boundary to keep things relatively tiny. I’d like to have some elevation, but then I’m skipping the one part that looks like it could be a little steep, so who knows:
I have no idea if the brief cut through the woods is at all practical, but it would be fun if it could be. Might need righter turns as well, it’s hard to get a sense of scale from the picture, and to be honest I’m not a huge fan of them anyway.

my last rallyx track at my father in law’s old place had two spots where you had to thread the needle though two trees. It was awesome, kinda scetchy but aweseme.

Would this be your home, or a getaway? If the prior, how long would it make your commute?

I have to throw my hat in the ring of coarse. you’ll notice that theres a lot of land not being used. That is fro 2 reasons 1 to keep everything out of view from the road, and 2 to provide staging area if I ever hosted public events. Blue is corrections from the original design.

this would be our home. its about 5 minutes from my job, and 15 from my wife’s.
right now our commutes are 15 minutes from me, and literally 1.5 blocks for my wife.

I look from time to time to try and find a job away from the urban/suburban areas just because of how much more you can buy with the same amount of money. But by being an engineer it generally means being near a more urban area.

yeah that’ s a hard line of work to find out in the rurals, especially with less and less manufacturing in places like this. There actually used to be a huge DuPont factory here, but it closed in the 80s. They made dynamite !

Oh man, that’s amazing.
We moved out to “the sticks” recently, but my commute is 35 mins (still not bad at all).

I would have to LOVE the house to deal with a commute like that. this one is about as it gets, especially at the price point.

I stopped by today. It’s pretty much all slops away from the house

Are the trees part of the property? If so you definitely need to chop a few and weave the track through them at certain points.
Also, add some topographical features! Hills, sand pit, gravel pit, etc.... Maybe a tunnel built out of the logs you chopped?
And don't forget to invite me.

You can run it in both directions just change the one corner for direction so no one crashes into the house.

I think this is pretty close to what I’d run, although I think your turn 2 is a marsh/low land so I’d stretch that turn to go around that area, its tha t whole lighter colored area.
